The Korean ambassador to Rwanda, Soon-taik Hwang has said that his country will strengthen the already existing bilateral relationship between Rwanda and Korea in the next year 2015.
Hwang made the remarks at the event to celebrate the Korea National Foundation Day, an event was held on November 11, 2014 at Serena Hotel in Kigali. The event was also attended by other envoys serving in Rwanda.
Ambassador Hwang said that since President Paul Kagame’s first visit to Korea in 2008, Korea has been a model of Rwanda and there has been a growing close relation between the two countries and this has seen more Korean projects invest in Rwanda
Some of the biggest investment Korean projects include Korea Telecom (KT), the largest telecommunications service provider in South Korea, for the establishment of Olleh Rwanda Network as a joint venture to deploy a high-speed 4G broadband network to cover 95 per cent of the Rwandan population in three years.
Others are in the fields of health, agriculture, rural development, education and vocational training and private business operations in Kigali
Dressed in traditional attire, Ambassador Hwang and his wife Mi-hee Son welcomed guests and in the Korean traditional culture of bowing in humility, and offered the guest with various Korean food dishes, which most tasted for the time.
On behalf of the government of Rwanda, Minister of Agriculture & Animal Resources, Geraldine Mukeshimana said the contribution of Korea has a pillar in agriculture education and ICT development agendas of the Rwandans.
Mukeshimana said that celebrating Korea National Foundation Day with Rwandans is a time to come together with family and friends to honor their identities, preserve heritage and look forward to a prosperous relation.
